Beloit held its inaugural Freedom March the first Saturday of October. About 250 people from the community and the college turned out to emphasize the power of the right to vote and to show solidarity and support for civil rights. Marchers held signs in English and Spanish that read “Your vote is your voice,” while others read “Black Lives Matter Beloit” and “Unity Equity Peace.” The college’s Office for Inclusive Living & Learning helped organize the march with leadership from students. Marchers started in Riverside Park, crossed the Rock River, and proceeded to Beloit Memorial High School where voter registration was available.
