Artist David Malek’00 brought together his French and studio art majors in a monumental way earlier this year.

The Brooklyn-based artist was commissioned by the French fashion house Cerruti to create a work of art to cover renovations to its flagship Paris boutique. The site-specific installation, a 23-by-105-foot billboard called “Yellow Chevron Bache,” is an abstract work of art composed of 40 different shades of yellow and metallic silver and printed on vinyl. Malek created the original painting, then scanned and transformed it to its large-scale via computer.

Cerruti“Yellow Chevron Bache” was reviewed in the Paris newspaper LeMonde and could be seen covering the entire façade of Cerruti’s Paris headquarters at 3 Place de la Madeleine from January through the end of May.

Malek has an upcoming exhibition at the Suzanne Tarasieve Gallery in Paris. His work is represented by the Smith-Stewart Gallery in New York and Ribordy Contemporary in Geneva, Switzerland.
