Puckett Named Vice President for External Affairs

In August, Jeff Puckett will take the reins as Beloit’s new vice president for external affairs, overseeing an office of 18 staff members at the college in development, alumni affairs, and corporate and foundation support.

Jeff PuckettPuckett brings to Beloit more than 17 years of development experience in the nonprofit sector, nearly all in higher education. Since 1999, he has served Washington State University and the WSU Foundation in a variety of roles. Most recently, he was senior vice president and chief operating officer of the Washington State University Foundation. In that capacity, he has helped direct, administer, and coordinate the development activities of foundation staff at the university, while directly supervising annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, prospect management and research, marketing and public relations, and constituency and regional programs. His earlier responsibilities at WSU include directing the foundation’s comprehensive campaign, overseeing record-breaking fundraising efforts on behalf of the WSU Office of Intercollegiate Athletics, and serving as vice president of corporate and foundation relations.

Before joining WSU, Puckett was director of development for Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka, Alaska, and director of annual support programs at Elon College (now Elon University) in Elon, N.C. He began his development career in 1993 as associate director of the Arts & Sciences Council in Charlotte, N.C.

Puckett earned his B.A. degree in psychology at Elon University and has an M.A. degree in English from Appalachian State University.
