Better Paper Choice

March 20, 2012

If the most recent issue of Beloit College Magazine seems different but you’re not sure exactly why, you’ve picked up on a subtle yet important change.

The spring 2012 issue is our first to be printed on uncoated, 100 percent post-consumer fiber. Though we’ve printed Beloit College Magazine on recycled paper for years, the switch to Cascades Rolland Enviro 100 paper increases the publication’s recycled content from 30 to 100 percent—meaning that no virgin paper is used—and less water, wood, and energy is expended in the papermaking process when compared with our previous paper. Our new paper is also Forest Stewardship Certified, a designation given to wood harvested from well-managed forests.

While these environmental benefits are significant, our staff also likes the way this paper looks and feels in our hands, and we hope you do, too. Send your comments to or post them to our website at
