William Thompson is convicted of a heinous crime and given a choice: serve 25 years in prison or one year in an experimental corrections program. He opts for the latter, is inserted into a mysterious facility called the Red Box, and quickly realizes that he has made a horrible mistake—but it is too late.

In his fiction debut, Shane Stadler’92 cross-pollinates sci-fi and horror genres, creating a work of speculative fiction involving secret medical experiments, old Nazi files, and dark government conspiracies. He even trespasses into the supernatural. Stadler intricately weaves multiple plotlines into a thrilling, fast-paced read.

An experimental physicist, Stadler has worked at numerous government defense and research labs. He lives in Baton Rouge, La., where he is a professor of physics at Louisiana State University.
