No-Name BabyBy Nancy Bo Flood’67

Namelos

South Hampton, N.H., 2011

Seen through the eyes of Sophie, a quiet, compassionate teenager living in the aftermath of World War I, No-Name Baby is the story of a family struggling to survive the hardships of the early 20th century. Sophie is haunted by the gray stones that mark the graves of her prematurely passed siblings. When an unexpected fall causes her mother to go into labor, the family fears the baby will not survive. As family members congregate to support her mother and the baby, Sophie stumbles upon family secrets that cause her to reevaluate her conception of truth.

Flood lives on the Navajo nation reservation near Flagstaff, Ariz., where she draws from her experience as a counselor, teacher, and parent to write children’s and young adult novels. Her other recently published books include Warriors in the Crossfire (2010) and The Navajo Year, Walk Through Many Seasons (2006).
